Handmade Pichwai Painting ~ Daan Ekadashi ~
This handmade traditional pichwai painting by imagineers made using 18 carat gold leaf depicts the seen of daan leela which is one of the many leelas of lord Shri Krishna.
In this leela, lord Shri Krishna along with his elder brother lord Balram can be seen stopping the gopikas of Braj on their way , demanding Daan of milk, curd, buttermilk and makhan in barter to let the gopikas proceed ahead along with their cows.
Daan leela pichwai theme was traditionally made for a 20 days long Daan Ekadashi festival celebrated at the Shrinath Ji temple of Nathdwara. During this festival, four of lord Shri Krishna's favourite items - milk, curd, makhan and buttermilk is offered for five days each as prassad to the deity and Daan padh devotional songs are sung along.
The base of this pichwai handmade painting is a hand spun cotton cloth. all colors used in this painting are made of natural stone pigments with 18 carat real gold leaf work.
