Gopasthami is a festival of Cows which is celebrated to mark the event when lord Shri Krishna became a cow herder {Gowala} officially. It is from this day that lord Shri Krishna was named ‘Govinda’-God of Cows by Lord Indra. Gopasthami Pichwai traditionally has Lord Shri Nathji idol at the centre surrounded with devoted cows and cow herds.
